Mark G. is the worker from Upper Darby Township Sanitation Department that was emptying the can into his truck when he found the little kitten.
“He noticed something was moving inside one of the bags. He opened the bag and found the kitten,” – said Justina Calgiano of Providence Animal Center
They quickly contacted the local animal control for help. When Providence Animal Center (Media, Pennsylvania) learned about the kitten, they took her in and brought her to get vetted.
They named the kitten “Grundgetta” after Oscar the Grouch’s girlfriend.
“She was sweet and innocent and didn’t deserve to be treated that way. I’m glad she’s healthy and safe,” said Mark

Grundgetta was about 3-4 weeks old when she was found, and still needed to be bottle fed.

“We’re looking to transfer her into a foster home with experience edealing with ‘bottle babies’ and then in 4-5 weeks when she’s old enough, big enough and healthy enough, we’ll place her up for adoption,” – Calgiano

Mark plans to visit the kitten when she is ready to be put up for adoption. He is very happy to know that the kitten is in good and loving hands.
“I was just doing what was right and making sure the cat got safe and the help (she) needs,” he said.
